An inclusive faith community of young adults

About Us

Our Vision
We believe God's grace and love are for all people and that God calls us to be faithful.

Our Mission
We seek to be an inclusive community of young adults, living out faith together through ministries of worship, prayer, community, and service.

Our Story
The Wesley Foundation at Eastern Illinois University began in the 1940s as a group of Methodist students meeting together to discuss topics and issues related to their faith and their church. The group officially became a Wesley Foundation (a name that many United Methodist campus ministries across the country use) in 1959. Our building at 2202 4th Street was built in 1969 and has served a variety of purposes in its existence, from being the office of the district superintendent, to housing the United Campus Ministries, to hosting a café and dance floor in the basement, where many Eastern alumni and community members enjoyed Friday night dances at the Lighthouse.

The Wesley Foundation at EIU connects students to the love of God known through the life of Jesus Christ. We strive to offer a spiritual home, provide opportunities for personal growth and spiritual formation, serve Christ by serving others, work for peace with justice, develop Christian leaders and provide outreach through missions

The Wesley Foundation is a ministry of the churches of the Illinois Great Rivers Conference of the United Methodist Church serving the college-aged young adults of the Eastern Illinois University community. We welcome all people in any stage of their faith journey.
